When I had back surgery 5 years ago, the Dr. said the only things I shouldn't do for probably at least a year was golf and softball, the twisting motions. Didn't matter as I don't do those anyway.

As far as flying......prepare for the naked body scan and possibly a strip search when going through the airport :D

Greg; Thanks for the update on your upcoming surgery. Your chosen exercise routine is a great choice, plus great female company for you. Remodeling, wiring, boat on the water, taking band aid to the symphony on Valentine's day. Man nothing holds your activities back, not even a sore back. Good for you. Wishing the best outcome for you with the procedure. Good Luck ! HH in Pa ;)

It's time for an update: :D

I'm feeling half way decent today- the swelling and nerve inflamation seems to be down and I'm getting around much better. Gotta stay careful not to overreach especially getting up and down. We'll meet the DR next Tuesday for the first post op appt and will start the long term goal discussion.

CO ELK remains a goal and my hunting buddys have arranged for tresspass access to our hunting spot so rather than an 8 mile horse ride and $1500 rental + feed and the time it takes to care for them, we'll have a mile uphill climb to public land for much less $$. Didn't thinik tht would ever happen but optimism drives the train. ;) 8-)

Been doing 3/5 mile lately- feeling pretty steady with less knee pain.

Met with the PA today and he's pleased with my progress assuring me the raw nerves will settle down in a couple more weeks. We did the "after' x rays today and that is mind boggling. The ere are about 1# of titanium rods and screw in there and alignment and spacing is much better. No signs of infection, misalignment or screws working loose. ;)

He feels I'll be good to go to Colorado chasing ELK this fall!! 8-)

I'll post some pictures soon

OK don't look if you can't handle detailed x-rays...

Before showing disc degerneration and spine offset

Post op of same area

and a side view to show how the rods are connected to the vertebrae. the 4" screws tie in the hip ilium.

Follow up sheduled for Mar 30 but barring any failure to heal, get strong and be smart while doing it, things should be good for summer
