900 Round Fun!

Postby Jason on Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:16 am

I did my first 900 round on Saturday. It was an informal long distance shoot that the local shop put on. 30 arrows each at 50, 60 and 70 yards.

There were about 10 target shooters and 5 guys including myself with hunting bows. I did put a single pin sight on my bow for the shoot.

Was it ever a lot of fun! Can't wait to get an opportunity to try it again. I ended up shooting 810 (with 1 complete miss of the 4 foot butt at 60 yards (I double clutched  )) and got 4th place overall. If I'd got an "8" instead of a miss I would have tied for 3rd.....and if my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle.....

I did fair way better than I expected I would.

I'd recommend trying it just for the fun of it if you ever have the opportunity.

Don't know if I could shoot 90 arrows. Sounds like you did very respectable - congratulations.

I had that concern too so I did a fair amount of shooting prior to shoot. I was pulling 70 lbs and the target shooters were pulling 50 to 55 pounds so I think that's a bit of a disadvantage too. For 60 and 70 yards you take your shots in 6 arrow rounds. I'd get pretty shaky by the 5th and 6th arrows each time.
