How do I know if I need a stabilizer?
I just bought a Martin Bengal and it seems to shoot fine for me. I haven’t been using a stabilizer. How do I know if I need a stabilizer? What kind would you recommend for the Bengal?
Answer:
If you’re shooting it well already you don’t need a stabilizer. They really don’t improve accuracy that much at typical hunting distances. They are most useful if your bow is extremely light. The added weight of the stabilizer will create extra inertia, making the bow more stable. Also, if you desire the ultimate in pinpoint accuracy, the stabilizer will give you a bit more forgiveness from bow hand torque during the release. The final reason you would use a stabilizer is to balance your bow for more comfortable, and more accurate, shooting. Top shooters prefer to have their bows remain level after the shot, or in some cases to tip forward. For most bows this requires a stabilizer.
