Please give me some tips for taking better field photos of the game I shoot.
Question:
Please give me some tips for taking better field photos of the game I shoot. Most of the photos I take look terrible and its too bad because some the bucks I have shot deserve better. What are the basic equipment and poses?
Answer:
As an amateur, you can’t beat a good automatic 35 mm camera and a 28 to 70 mm zoom lens with 100 or 200 ISO film. Many of today’s portable cameras take excellent field photos and can be carried very easily in your vehicle or fanny pack. We’ve used the Pentax Zoom WR with very good results. In general, wide-angle lenses of less than 50 mm make antlers look most impressive. Don’t get carried away though, as extreme wide-angle shots (taken with lenses of 35 mm or less) appear contrived and unattractive.
Clean all visible blood off the animal. It is best to photograph it right in the field. Avoid an uncluttered background and keep the camera angle low.
