Question: Can you accurately sex a deer bed?

Answer:
Absolutely, especially in the snow! After the rut, a mature buck usually beds alone…close to a preferred food supply whereas does usually bed in family groups with various bed sizes in evidence indicating the presence of mature does, yearlings and fawns of the year. A mature buck’s oval- shaped bed on the other hand will be noticeably larger than the average deer in the area.
